Carmella Rose Health Foundation and their navigators participated for the first time in the third annual Feed the Need at TownHall, taking place the Tuesday before Thanksgiving on November 24, 2015. This normally bustling and popular restaurant closes its doors to the public for one entire day and approximately 100 members of their staff serve full turkey dinners to the needy in Cleveland. The doors opened at 10 am to a long line of folks already waiting for meals. Enough meals were prepared to feed 3000 people, but they ran out shortly before the scheduled closing of 6 o’clock, unfortunately turning some people away. As navigators, we were uniquely positioned in this generous atmosphere, able to mingle and engage, and assist clients in addressing their socioeconomic needs and overcoming their healthcare barriers, including assisting them with Medicaid applications. TownHall’s owner has warmly welcomed us back for this year’s event, and hopes to expand this wonderful event and to feed even more!
